Major Takedown Disrupts Global Crypto Scam: Over 369K Devices Freed from Fraudulent Network

In a significant crackdown, law enforcement agencies from the United States and Europe have successfully dismantled a vast residential proxy network known as Socksescort. This network, which was found to be compromising residential routers worldwide using the AVRecon malware, had been operational since 2020. By infiltrating over 369,000 devices across 163 different countries, Socksescort managed to create a substantial botnet, offering unauthorized access to these devices for nefarious purposes.

The operation led to the seizure of approximately $3.5 million in cryptocurrency assets, highlighting the financial magnitude of the illicit activities conducted through this network.
